Lisa Davenport Jenkins, who teaches undergraduate world music at Penn State, will visit The Public Library for Union County at 6:30 p.m. on Mon., April 25, to give a presentation, “Celtic Music.”
Jenkins will be joined by local musician Sara Kelley, formerly a member of the Celtic music group Callanish. Several traditional Celtic musical instruments will be introduced.
Jenkins’ work is based on research at the School of Scottish Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland as well as fieldwork focusing on the annual Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, Scotland.
This program has been supported by Public Humanities Scholars, a joint venture of the Pennsylvania humanities Council and the Pennsylvania State University’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities, with funding by a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
