Do you like to play with your food? If so, why not enter the Edible Book Contest, hosted by the Public Library for Union County and the Lewisburg Cooking Club.

Children, teens and adults are encouraged to enter this unique, one-of-a-kind contest, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 22 at The Public Library for Union County. Professional food artists are encouraged to enter as well, in the professional category.

Entries must represent a title, major character or theme of a book and be made of 90% edible material and foodstuffs—10% non-edible material may be used for props. All entries must be room-temperature-tolerable.

Entries will be judged a panel of local judges. Ribbons will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place winners in each category—children (5-12), teens (13-17), adult (18+) and professional. There will also be a People’s Choice Award for Best Edible Book, voted on by library patrons. Judging will begin at 7 p.m. and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Deadline for registration is October 15, 2012 and all entries should be delivered to the library at 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on October 22. For more information visit the library or call 570-523-1172. Click on the Children, Teens, or Adults tab for a downloadable registration form.
